If you're like us, yesterday's "Saw VI" trailer caught you by surprise, mostly because you assumed the series had ended. I mean, come on, Jigsaw's been dead for a while.

Now comes news from Variety that "Saw VII" and fellow horror sequel "The Strangers 2" are both in the works. At this rate, serial killers are going to depopulate the world faster than climate-change catastrophes.

See pictures of the politics of horror.

"Strangers 2" -- which follows the "loosely based on real events" home-invasion plot of the first film -- will be directed by French music-video helmer Laurent Briet. Don't ask about the plot; it's being kept secret.

As for Jigsaw's spawn, "Saw VII" will be directed by "Saw V's" David Hackl. There's no script yet, but we're gonna go out on a limb and say a group of people guilty of wasting their lives (Jigsaw's pet peeve) will be placed in ingenious but deadly traps.
