Will star in 'Betsy and the Emperor' adaptation

The Godfather will step into the shoes of one of history's most famous misunderstood bad guys.

Al Pacino will star as Napoleon Bonaparte in Killer Films' adaptation of "Betsy and the Emperor," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Staton Rabin's 2004 young-adult book follows the true story of Betsy Balcombe, who befriended Bonaparte during his years exiled to the remote island of St. Helena.

There's no word yet who will co-star as Betsy, or when filming will begin.

Pacino, 58, starred alongside "The Godfather, Part II" co-star Robert DeNiro in 2008's "Righteous Kill."
