Woody Allen Casts His Barcelona Net
Patricia Clarkson and Kevin Dunn join Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz
Allen is set to begin production on the untitled feature on July 9, shooting in Spain for the first time.
As was previously announced, Allen's frequent collaborator Scarlett Johansson will topline the movie along with Spanish stars Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz.
According to media reports, Allen also revealed that the film's cast will include Patricia Clarkson, Kevin Dunn, Chris Messina, Zak Orth, Pablo Schreiber and Carrie Preston. An assortment of Spanish actors will also fill supporting roles, including Abel Folk, Lluis Homar, Joel Joan, Julio Perillan and Mireia Ros.
Of the film itself, Allen said little, keeping with his typical policy of pre-production secrecy.
"I hope I can present Barcelona to the world as I see it, the same way I presented Manhattan to the world as I saw it with my eyes," Variety quotes Allen as saying. "I want to write a love letter to Barcelona and from Barcelona to the world."
Allen's latest film, "Cassandra's Dream," stars Ewan McGregor and Colin Farrell and will be released later this year.
