Will re-team with 'Merchant of Venice' director

"Oh, that way madness lies; let me shun that. Hoo-AH!"

Al Pacino will take on the title role for a film adaptation of "King Lear," according to Variety. Michael Radford, who directed Pacino in a 2004 version of Shakespeare's "The Merchant of Venice," will direct.

William Shakespeare's play tells the story of the titular king who, slowly going mad, divides his kingdom between his three daughters. Two want it the land for themselves, and the third just wants to be good. No word on who will play the daughters.

Pacino, 68, starred in last year's "Righteous Kill" and "88 Minutes."
