'Simpsons' Star Gets 'Outsourced'
Comedy would mark Azaria's feature directing debut
Written by Timothy Dowling, "Outsourced" focuses on two men who head down to Mexico to recover their factory jobs after the company heads south of the border. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project was originally developed as a potential starring vehicle for Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn (duh), but no actors are currently attached.
The only previous directing credit for Azaria is the 2004 short "Nobody's Perfect," which won a prize at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival.
Azaria has voiced a bevy of characters on "The Simpsons" over the years, winning a trio of Emmys for his work. He also won a live action acting Emmy for "Tuesdays with Morrie" and was nominated for guest stints on "Friends" and "Mad About You." His starring role on Showtime's "Huff" earned him another nomination.
