Oher won't attend 'The Blind Side' premiere
Ravens rookie will miss New York City opening of film based on his life story
Given that he is in the midst of his first season in the NFL, that shouldn't be a surprise, said his adoptive parents. Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy.
"Michael is playing football. He is not going to movie premieres, he is not going to movie theaters. He is not going anywhere," Sean Tuohy said during a Tuesday teleconference to promote "The Blind Side," which opens nationally Friday. "And we respect that and we would hope other people would respect that."
Leigh Anne Tuohy added: "When Michael is getting prepared to play a football game, the movie is not the foremost thing on his mind."
Oher has not yet seen the film, which details his journey from impoverished Memphis teen to college graduate and NFL rookie. But his adoptive mother said he has seen a "bunch of cutups and clips," and recently e-mailed her and said: "Boy, this thing really is going to change people isn't it?"
"And of course that brought a tear to our eyes," Sean Tuohy said.
