Jason Bateman Joins 'Office Space' Creator's Workplace
Mike Judge will write and direct 'Extract'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Extract" is set up at Miramax through Ternion Productions, a new shingle created by "King of the Hill" writer-producers Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.
Bateman will play the owner of a flower extract plant (of the "factory" variety, not the "flora" variety), a man dealing with a wide variety of problems, both professional and personal.
A box office disappointment on its initial 1999 release, Judge's "Office Space" has developed a devoted following in ancillary markets. A box office dud in its half-hearted 2006 release, Judge's "Idiocracy" is still trying to find a similar devoted following.
Most recently seen in "Juno" and "The Kingdom," Bateman has "Hancock" coming out this summer and "State of Play" hitting theaters next spring.
