Carrey, Carell Hear a 'Who'
Seuss classic gets an animated update
You won't see the two leading men, though, because "Horton" will be a computer animated offering from 20th Century Fox Animation.
According to media reports, Carrey will voice the title character. Horton is an elephant who hears a voice coming from a speck of dirt. The voice comes from a nearly creature called a Who, but none of the other animals believe Horton's story. He think he's insane, but Horton continues to try to keep all of the little Whos safe.
Carell will play the mayor of Who-ville.
"Horton" will come from Blue Sky Studios, the company behind the "Ice Age" films, with Jimmy Hayward and Steve Martino directing from a script by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio.
Mark your calendars early, because Fox has tentatively set a March 14, 2008 release for the movie.
Carrey, last seen in "Fun With Dick and Jane," has "The Number 23" and "A Little Game Without Consequences on tap.
Carell's third season of "The Office" begins later this month. Next summer he'll star in the "Bruce" sequel "Evan Almighty."
