Steve Guttenberg's a 'Major Movie Star'
The Gutt to shoot with Jessica Simpson
The Nu Image/Millennium Films production had added a slew of new cast members. Beyond The Gutt, familiar faces include Vivica A. Fox ("Independence Day"), Ryan Sypek ("Wildfire"), Cheri Oteri ("Saturday Night Live"), Olesya Rulin ("High School Musical"), Keiko Agena ("Gilmore Girls"), Jill Marie Jones ("Girlfriends"), Aimee Garcia ("George Lopez") and Gary Grubbs ("The O.C.").
Steve Miner is directing April Blair and Holly Sorensen's script, which has been tweaked by Oteri, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The trade paper says that the movie focuses on the heartbreaking story of a young movie star (Simpson) who joins the Army Reserve after discovering that her boyfriend is gay and her money's been embezzled.
Guttenberg will play her agent, unhappy that the Army won't let her out of the commitment. Fox will play a training officer, while Grubbs will play a General eager to keep the star in the fold. Sypek will play the main love interest, with Oteri, Jones, Rulin, Agena and Garcia as a variety of other reservists.
Guttenberg's most recent credits include a season of "Veronica Mars," plus NBC's telefilm remake of "The Poseidon Adventure." His feature credits run from "Diner" to "Short Circuit" to "Zeus and Roxanne."
