Howard May Uncover 'Hidden'
Razzie nominated director make remake Cannes winner
Haneke won the best director prize at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival for "Cache," a slow-building suspense film about a couple (Daniel Auteuil and Juliette Binoche) who receive a series of videotapes leading them to believe they're being watched.
According to Variety, Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine will produce the film for Universal with the "Beautiful Mind" Oscar winner looking to direct. The trade paper suggests that the remake will be less intellectual and socially relevant and more amped up in terms of suspense.
Of course, Howard isn't going to rush to make "Hidden" his first directing effort since "The Da Vinci Code." He's also been linked to the big screen version of Peter Morgan's acclaimed play "Frost/Nixon," as well as to the "Da Vinci" sequel "Angels & Demons."
Howard is up for a Razzie as worst director for his work on "The Da Vinci Code."
