The couple married on New Year's Eve 2000

Kate Hudson and husband Chris Robinson are reportedly separating.

The Oscar-nominated actress and the Black Crowes frontman were married on New Year's Eve 2000. The wedding came after the couple had been dating for a year. Their son, Ryder Russell, was born on January 7, 2004.

News of the split was first reported in People, which offered no additional details as to cause or whether the couple is attempting a reconciliation.

Naturally, with Hudson on the publicity circuit for her summer film "You, Me and Dupree," the actress is on the cover of this month's British Elle, discussing how there's no such thing as a perfect marriage.

In the interview, she says, "I don't like this idea of the perfect marriage. It doesn't exist. People can be in love madly and deeply and go through so much and still end up with each other and that's what you hope for. But no one should get married if they think it's going to be a fairy tale."
