Adam Sandler will produce for his 'Chuck and Larry' co-star

Kevin James is expected to co-write, produce and star in the high concept Sony comedy "Mall Cop."

According to the industry trade papers, the film will focus on a mall security guard whose life gets an unexpected dose of action when a group of thieves attempt to hijack the mall.

James, naturally, will play the main character and co-write the script with Nick Bakay.

Like James' latest film "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," "Mall Cop" will be produced by Adam Sandler's Columbia-based Happy Madison shingle.

"Mall Cop" continues James' lengthy association with Sony. In addition to "Chuck and Larry," the studio was behind James' big screen breakthrough "Hitch," while Sony Pictures Television produced his CBS hit comedy "The King of Queens."
