Lucky Lohan's Handbag Found
No items were missing
The "Just My Luck" star was distraught Thursday afternoon (Sept. 7) when she discovered her orange Birkin bag missing from her luggage upon touching down at London's Heathrow Airport. After a public plea for the "return of the items" -- including jewelry and an asthma inhaler -- the bag with all its contents intact was found on airport property.
"The incident is being classed 'recovered lost property,'" says a Scotland Yard spokesperson, according to the UK's Daily Mail. "The victim has confirmed that no items are missing and we can find no evidence of theft."
An unidentified chauffeur says that he found the Hermes bag in a car park near Heathrow Airport and then contacted authorities.
"I found the bag on the back of a trolley in a carpark near Terminal One on Thursday night," recalls the driver. "I picked it up with the intention of handing it into police. I had no idea it was Lindsay Lohan's until I saw the news headlines on Friday morning. I contacted the police straight away and said I would drop it off at Heathrow police station."
"Extra," however, is reporting that a paparazzo working for the London's Big Pictures celebrity photo company helped apprehend the thief, earning Lohan's heartfelt gratitude.
"Lindsay wants to say a massive thank you today to Mr. Paparazzi Darryn Lyons for handing back her bag to her today after his crew of paparazzi film crew helped to catch the thief and return her belongings," reads a Big Pictures statement. "With the help of their video footage, which the met police spent five hours in the Big Pictures office going through today, Lindsay amazingly got her bag back with nothing missing.
"She wanted to highlight that Big Pictures spent hours of their time helping not only Lindsay but also the Metropolitan Police and the Heathrow Crime squad to help with the safe return of Mss Lohan's bag today," continues the statement. "She feels that maybe justice has been served, and karma may have played a role in the return of her bag today given that the paparazzi are usually a pest to her, and today they have been a Godsend. Lindsay feels the tables have turned, and for once the paparazzi have finally been of help to her today. She offered a huge thank you to Darryn Lyons, posed for a picture with him after the safe return of her belongings and then added 'I love his hair.'"
Big Pictures chairman Lyons claims that Lohan's attorney Michael David Heller informed them of the starlet's thanks.
Lohan had just flown in from Italy, where she attended the premiere of her upcoming film "Bobby" at the Venice Film Festival.
