Thriller aims for Oct. 2007 release

Liv Tyler will star in "Strangers," a thriller from Rogue Pictures.

Mandate Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment are producing "Strangers," which will shoot this fall for an October 2007 release.

Bryan Bertino wrote the project, which focuses on a couple in a remote suburban house targeted by three masked strangers. Naturally, as tensions rise, the couple decides to do whatever it takes to survive. The male compliment to Tyler's character has yet to be cast.

Bertino will also direct.

"Liv enjoys a real rapport with audiences worldwide," say Rogue Co-Presidents Andrew Karpen and Andrew Rona. "This is the kind of picture she hasn't done before, and we're excited that she's going to be the actor anchoring 'Strangers' under Bryan's direction."

Tyler is probably still best known for her appearances as Arwen in the three "Lord of the Rings" films. Her pre-"Rings" credits included "Stealing Beauty," "Heavy" and "Armageddon." Tyler was last seen by a few people in Steve Buscemi's "Lonesome Jim" and by a few more in Kevin Smith's "Jersey Girl."
