Mulroney Tries On Shue Flick
Andrew and Elisabeth Shue co-star
Mulroney has signed on for a lead role in "Gracie," a film loosely based on events from the childhoods of siblings Elisabeth and Andrew Shue.
Elisabeth Shue's husband Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth") is directing the film, which focuses on a teenage girl (Carley Schroeder) who fights to play on the boys' soccer team after her brother, a star player, dies.
The Oscar-nominated Shue (Elisabeth) is set to play the mother of the budding soccer star, while the "Melrose Place" Shue (Andrew) appears as a soccer coach.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mulroney will play the girl's father.
Picturehouse has already acquired domestic distribution rights for the movie, which began filming earlier this week. "Gracie" is aiming for a summer 2007 release.
Mulroney was most recently seen in "The Family Stone" and "Must Love Dogs." His slate of upcoming releases includes "Zodiac" and the already notorious Lindsay Lohan film "Georgia Rule."
