Bryce Thadeus Ulrich-Nielsen was born on Monday

Connie Nielsen and Lars Ulrich are the proud parents of a son, born on May 21.

It's the "Ice Harvest" star and the Metallica drummer's first child together, though Nielsen has a 16-year-old son from a previous marriage and Ulrich has a pair of sons for another previous marriage.

News of Bryce Thadeus Ulrich-Nielsen's birth was steadily percolating through the media ranging from a posting to the official Metallica.com website ("Mother's doing well, Dad's in awe, and brothers Layne, Myles, and Sebastian are psyched!") to the BT newspaper in the couple's native Denmark ("We are ecstatic. Everything is fine with him. He is eating, and he's just so fine.").

Ulrich and Nielsen, both 42, have been dating for roughly two years.

Seen earlier this season in a recurring arc on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Nielsen's upcoming film credits include the drama "Tonight at Noon" and the ensemble "Battle in Seattle."
