Al Gore's acclaimed and successful PowerPoint presentation "An Inconvenient Truth" is one of the 15 films that will compete for the documentary feature Oscar this year.

While 81 films were originally qualified for the 79th Academy Awards, the Documentary Branch screening committee narrowed that field down to a 15-film pack that is doubtlessly led by David Guggenheim's global warming doc.

Many of the "Inconvenient" rivals focus on the current war in Iraq or the general Iraqi people, including "The Ground Truth," "Iraq in Fragments," "My Country, My Country" and "The War Tapes."

Also advancing to the next round of viewership are "Blindsight," "Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?," "Deliver Us from Evil," "Jesus Camp," "Jonestown: The Life and Death of People's Temple," "Shut Up & Sing," "Sisters in Law," "Storm of Emotions," "The Trials of Darryl Hunt" and "An Unreasonable Man."

Members of the Documentary Branch of the Academy will now select the five nominees.

Nominations will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007. The Oscars will be held on Feb. 25.
