Frank Miller directed film already features Gabriel Macht, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes

Add "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" star Sarah Paulson to Frank Miller's "Will Eisner's The Spirit."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paulson will play Ellen Dolan, true love to Denny Colt/The Spirit (Gabriel Macht), a detective-turned-vigilante who butts heads with evil crimelord Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson).

Paulson joins a female supporting cast that already includes dueling femmes fatale Scarlett Johansson and Eva Mendes as Silk N. Floss and Sand Saref, respectively.

In addition, the HR says that "The Spirit" cast will include Dan Lauria ("The Wonder Years"), Stana Katic ("Heroes"), Johnny Simmons ("Evan Almighty") and Louis Lombardi ("24").

Production on "The Spirit" will begin in October in New Mexico with Miller ("Sin City") directing from his own adaptation of the classic Eisner comic.

A Golden Globe nominee for her "Studio 60" work, Paulson's credits also include "Deadwood," "Serenity," "The Notorious Bettie Page" and "Diggers."
