Paul Haggis was formerly attached to the Richard A. Clarke adaptation

Robert Redford is in place to direct the big screen version of Richard A. Clarke's "Against All Enemies."

Set up Capital Films after being set loose by Columbia, "Against All Enemies" would be Redford's second consecutive effort to focus on the war on terror following this fall's "Lions for Lambs."

Clarke, formerly the nation's terrorism czar, published "Against All Enemies" in 2004, pulling back the curtain to explore the Bush administration's handling of terrorism threats both before and after the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. The book's major characters include Condoleezza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and President Bush himself.

The trade papers say that John Calley and Tracy Falco will produce.

"Crash" Oscar winner Paul Haggis has been previously attached to "Against All Enemies," but exited to make a different film in a similar vein, "In the Valley of Elah."

Redford won an Oscar for directing 1980's "Ordinary People" and picked up a second directing nomination for "Quiz Show." "Lions for Lambs" will be his first directing effort since 2000's "The Legend of Bagger Vance."
