Bowen, Mihok will join Ryder in dark comedy

Winona Ryder is reuniting with Daniel Waters, the writer of one of her defining roles.

The "Heathers" scribe wrote a part in his latest writing-directing effort "Sex and Death 101" with Ryder in mind, according to the industry trade papers.

The dark comedy, Waters' first trip behind the camera since his 2001 directing debut "Happy Campers," reportedly stars Simon Baker (TV's "The Guardian") as a man who receives a mysterious e-mail listing all of his sexual partners, past (that part isn't so freaky) and future (much more perplexing). Ryder will apparently play some sort of femme fatale in the project, which is already shooting.

Also new to the cast are Julie Bowen ("Ed"), as one of the former lovers, and Dash Mihok ("The Thin Red Line").

An Oscar nominee for "The Age of Innocence" and "Little Women," Ryder's big screen appearances have been sporadic since her 2001 shoplifting arrest and subsequent conviction on felony grand theft and vandalism charges. She'll be seen later this year in "The Darwin Awards" and "A Scanner Darkly."
