San Fran Scribes Embrace 'Little Children'
'Borat' star wins his second best actor prize of the season
This was the first major win of the critics award season for "Little Children," which was also recognized by the SFFCC for best adapted screenplay by Field and Tom Perrotta, author of the original book. The small town dark comedy also won best supporting actor for Jackie Earle Haley, who took a similar honor from the New York critics earlier this week.
The San Fran critics recognized several other seasonal favorites in other major categories. Like everybody else, the SFFCC gave Helen Mirren best actress for "The Queen." The group also echoed the Los Angeles critics in giving best director to Paul Greengrass for "United 93" and best actor to Sacha Baron Cohen of "Borat."
Supporting actress went to Adrian Barraza of "Babel," no stranger to awards followers, while "Pan's Labyrinth" (best foreign film) and "An Inconvenient Truth" (best documentary) added to their hauls
In one major departure, the SFFCC awarded Rian Johnson with the original screenplay win for "Brick."
