Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman, Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani will star

Touchstone is moving forward on a sequel to last summer's sleeper hit "Step Up," complete with an online casting component.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on "Step Up 2 the Streets" will begin next Monday (July 30) in Baltimore, featuring an all new cast.

The original "Step Up" made a surprising $65 million in its late summer release last year. It starred Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan, Mario and Drew Sidora.

The sequel will feature the slightly lesser known Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman, Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani, along with singer Cassie, who will contribute a song for the soundtrack.

John Chu is directing the sequel, which reverses the gender roles from the original, focusing on a male dance student (Hoffman) at the Maryland School of the Arts who befriends the rebellious new girl (Evigan).

The trade paper says that Touchstone is asking aspiring singers and dancers to upload audition tapes to the film's MySpace page. That footage will be reviewed by the filmmakers, who will select a group of finalists. MySpace users will then vote on winners, who will either get to appear in the film as dancers or land a place on the soundtrack.
