Suvari, Nolte Ponder 'Mysteries'
Jon Foster will play the lead in the Chabon adaptation
Adapted and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber ("Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story"), "Pittsburgh" will begin shooting in -- go figure -- Pittsburgh on Sept. 5.
In addition to the new casting additions, the film was already set to star Sienna Miller and Peter Sarsgaard.
Chabon's debut novel focused on one wild and sexually adventurous summer in the life of a recent college graduate named Art Bechstein (Foster). Miller and Sarsgaard play charismatic couple Jane and Cleveland, who draw Bechstein into their circle. Suvari plays the artsy Phlox, Bechstein's occasional girlfriend, while Nolte will be his potentially dangerous mobster father.
"Pittsburgh" is produced by Michael London's Groundswell Prods.
Fosters credits include "Life As We Know It" and "Windfall" on the small screen and "Stay Alive" and "The Door in the Floor" on the big screen.
Suvari's credits include the unlikely trilogy of "American Beauty," "American Pie" and "American Virgin." She has "Day of the Dead," "The Dog Problem" and "Factory Girl" (starring Miller) on tap.
Two-time Oscar nominee Nolte was most recently seen in "Peaceful Warrior."
