'Desperate' Hatcher Speaks Up for 'Coraline'
Actress lends voice to good mother and evil mother in creepy tale
The "Desperate Housewives" star will voice two roles opposite tiny thespian Dakota Fanning in the animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's international best seller for children, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Like her character on the ABC dramedy, Hatcher will play a well-meaning but flawed mother. She, her husband and daughter Coraline (Fanning) live in a rambling house with several other colorfully bizarre people. When Coraline opens a door that has been blocked off by a wall of bricks, she discovers a cool dream world of all her favorite stuff. But there's also the Bizarro World version of her parents -- with Hatcher also voicing this mom -- who have really disturbing button eyes and want to prevent the little girl from returning home.
"The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "James and the Giant Peach" helmer Henry Selick will direct the dark childhood tale.
Hatcher's "Housewives" wrapped up its second season with a two-hour finale on Sunday, May 21.
