Will Ferrell's the Worst, Johnny Depp's the Best Autographer
Also bad: Tobey Maguire, Teri Hatcher
The "Blades of Glory" star tops the list of the worst celebrity autographers for 2007, according to Autograph magazine.
The self-appointed Sharpie Patrol doesn't play favorites since a star is only as good as his/her last signing.
"What's so frustrating about Will Ferrell being the worst autograph signer this past year is that he used to be so nice to fans and collectors, and a great signer," says Steve Cyrkin, the magazine's editor and publisher. "What makes him so bad is that he'll taunt people asking for his autograph."
Also among the most offensive signers are web-slinger Tobey Maguire, Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix, "Star Trek's" William Shatner, Oscar winner Renee Zellweger, John Malkovich, frequent nanny/queen Julie Andrews, "Die Hard" star Bruce Willis, "Desperate Housewives" star Teri Hatcher and Scarlett Johansson.
Landing on the Worst list isn't the end for celebs wanting to impress their fans, though. Russell Crowe, who was among the worst last year, has made it to the bottom of the Best list now that he's mellowed with age and fatherhood.
"He may still be a bit grumpy at times, but now he signs pretty much anytime someone asks," says Cyrkin.
Big props, however, goes to "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Sweeney Todd" star Johnny Depp, who pulls out a hattrick by being the top autographer for the third year in a row.
"It's the third consecutive year Depp has topped the list of the 10 best signers," says Cyrkin. "Whether at a premiere, in a restaurant or on location, Depp may just be the best Hollywood autograph signer of all time."
Keeping Depp company is "Bourne Ultimatum" star Matt Damon, fellow "Ocean's 13" actor George Clooney, Jack Nicholson, Rosario Dawson, "Hairspray" crossdresser John Travolta, "Grey's Anatomy" castmember Katherine Heigl, late-night host Jay Leno, child star Dakota Fanning and the aforementioned Crowe.
