'Everwood' may be in limbo, but Gregory Smith is staying busy

Screen Gems has lined up a strong young adult cast for "Weiners," a new roadtrip comedy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Steilen will direct the project, which focuses on a group of best friends who travel across the country in a weinermobile to take on a "nefarious talk show host." Gregory Smith, Kenan Thompson, Zachary Levi ("Big Momma's House 2") and Fran Kranz ("The Village") will star.

The script was written by Gabe Grifoni and Suzanne Francis.

The film will begin shooting next month in Utah.

Smith is best known as the brooding Ephram on The WB's "Everwood," a drama on the bubble as its network is folded into The CW. His other credits include "Kids in America" and "Small Soldiers."

Thompson, currently of "Saturday Night Live," formerly of "Good Burger" and "Kenan & Kel" will next be seen in "Snakes on a Plane."
