Winstone Whips Into 'Indy 4' Shape
'Sexy Beast' star will do something, but we don't know what
Winstone, most recently seen in the Oscar-winning drama "The Departed," joins maybe Cate Blanchett, possibly Shia LaBeouf and probably not Gong Li in the Steven Spielberg directed project. Harrison Ford most certainly will star, but all else is pure speculation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hub of today's speculation, Winstone will play Indiana Jones' sidekick in the project, but given the "Sexy Beast" star's proclivity toward dark character turns, can't we already guarantee that he'll turn out to be a Nazi, Commie, alien or whatever the script's designated villain happens to be?
Production on the David Koepp-scripted "Indiana Jones and the Quest for Profit" (not the official title) is set to begin in June in a variety of unknowable locations. The film will be released on May 22, 2008.
The three films in the franchise -- 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark," 1984's "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and 1989's "Last Crusade" -- have taken in just under $1.2 billion worldwide.
Winstone's credits include the 2006 releases "Breaking and Entering" and "The Proposition," as well as the upcoming "Beowulf."
