Breakout TV Stars of the Decade

Zac Efron had small roles on TV ("Firefly," "ER," "CSI Miami") before he starred in the Disney Channel's made-for-TV movie "High School Musical" and appeared on the The WB series "Summerland." By 2007 Rolling Stone had dubbed him the "poster boy for teenyboppers" and People put him in the 100 Most Beautiful People issue. That same year he starred in the film "Hairspray" and in "HSM 2." "HSM 3" was too big for TV and hit theaters in 2008. His first adult rom-com -- "17 Again" was well-received. The coup de grace? Hosting "SNL" (and actually being funny!) and a cameo on "Entourage" in 2009.
