Cannes: Must-see films 2009

Director: Pete Docter – An old man named Carl escapes life in an assisted living facility when he flies away in his house via hundreds of balloons. As he sets off for South America, he’s surprised to learn of an 8-year-old stowaway onboard. Cast: Ed Asner, Christopher Plummer and Jordan Nagai.

Why? The opening night film promises to be yet another work of Oscar-worthy animation, courtesy of Pixar.
