ABC has enjoyed a pretty remarkable renaissance in the past two years, but most of that rebound has come on the backs of just a few shows. "Lost," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Dancing with the Stars" are still going strong, but the network is trying really hard to build a deeper schedule this season, its first in over 35 years without "Monday Night Football."
As a result, ABC has jumped a little deeper into the comedy waters this year, launching four new half-hour shows (two of which will likely come after "Dancing" finishes later in the fall) as well as the hour-long "Ugly Betty," which could also be considered comedy. Dramas still play a prominent role as well, with five new ones hitting the air between now and November.
