Akiko is a favorite designer among many A-list celebrities. As an aspiring designer at the age of nine, she started sewing under the direction of her grandmother and eventually started designing her own creations while still in high school. After obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design from Otis College of Art and Design, Akiko was able to launch her career. By 2003, she had established herself in the industry with her flattering, feminine chic pieces, soon recognized as a note-worthy designer. With inspiration from art, vintage prints and embroideries, Akiko has become known for designs that flatter the female form.
