A is for Anniversary
"Sesame Street" celebrates its 40th anniversary on Tuesday, Nov. 10 with First Lady Michelle Obama teaching the kids how to garden, part of the show's new nature curriculum and "Healthy Habits for Life" initiative. The 40th season also features a new version of the theme song, a new CGI look for Abby Cadabby and a new broadcasting format.
But even as "Sesame Street" innovates, generations are looking back at 40 years of sunny days, catchy songs, wacky puppets, high-profile guest stars and entertaining lessons.
Come and play. Check out four decades of "Sesame Street" A-Z*, ranging from the bromance between Bert and Ernie and the death of Mr. Hooper to the cultural impact as seen in the Broadway musical "Avenue Q" and the rise of the Veggie Monster.
