Step 1: Keep Betty 'ugly'
It was always refreshing that the show never made Betty over. After all, that's what every "ugly duckling" tale from "Cinderella" to "The Devil Wears Prada" has done. We've seen it over and over. What we needed to see is someone who held on to their style, and thus themselves, yet still made it in a world where they weren't initially accepted.
Fine, she has already stepped up her look and the braces will be history soon, too. The day she squeezes her foot into a non-sensible Louboutin shoe, though, will signify "Ugly Betty's" death march.
