This could have been an epic fail: A reboot of a classic franchise whose fans are legion -- and famously cranky about the integrity of the source material. But "Star Trek" was fast, funny, smart and action-packed, saluting the original "Trek" without being a slave to it. Critics and audiences agreed, making it the first bona fide hit of the summer. HIT
