CBS' New Shows for the 2007-08 Season

CBS' New Shows for the 2007-08 Season: Moonlight

Premieres: Friday, Sept. 28
Airs: Fridays at 9 p.m.

The Pitch: Stop us if this sounds familiar... Hes a vampire, but hes also a private eye!

Mick (Alex OLoughlin) is a private eye by night, but by day hes usually sleeping in a freezer. After all, Mick is a vampire. When he isnt fighting human criminals and various evil forces, Mick is dealing with his ancient mentor (Jason Dohring), his unpredictable sire (Shannyn Sossamon) and the Internet reporter (Sophia Myles) he may just have a thing for.

What They Got Right: CBS hasnt sent out screeners, because after the network picked up Moonlight, it proceeded to get rid of the entire cast with the exception of leading man OLoughlin (Adios, Rade Serbedzija, Shannon Lucio and Amber Valetta). So well just say that what they got right was OLoughlin and the premise.

Whats Oh, So Wrong: By the time it airs, Moonlight will have gone through multiple titles (Twilight was ditched just before upfronts), multiple scripts, multiple casts and multiple showrunners (Chip Johannessen replaced David Greenwalt). Its possible that CBS just wanted to get Moonlight exactly perfect, but this much upheaval behind-the-scenes is rarely a good sign.

Recommended If ...: Angel and Forever Knight convinced you that only vampires can effectively fight crime on TV
