Aliens in America
Aliens in America
Premieres: Monday, Oct. 1
Airs: Mondays at 8:30 p.m.
The Pitch: People are strange ... everywhere.
Justin Tolchuck (Dan Byrd) is 16, awkward and would rather keep a low profile at school, so it doesn't help when his mom decides to take in a foreign exchange student. When Raja Musharaff (Adhir Kalyan), a Pakistani Muslim, arrives, he and Justin find common ground in trying to survive high school in America.
What They Got Right: The boys' friendship, once it gets underway, is open, easygoing and rather touching -- exemplifying the show's message.
What's Oh, So Wrong: The depiction of the small Midwestern town's ignorance is a glaring stereotype that seems backward in itself.
Recommended If ...: Any group looks "all alike" to you.
