The CW's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season

The CW's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season: Gossip Girl

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 19
Airs: Wednesdays at 9 p.m.

The Pitch: Being young, beautiful and rich is deliciously problematic.

Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) is suddenly back after a mysterious sabbatical, but former BFF Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) isnt too thrilled, especially when she suspects her boyfriend Nate (Chace Crawford) has a thing for Serena. This and other juicy tidbits are the fodder for blogger Gossip Girls catty observations of the pretty and privileged at a private school.

What They Got Right: The speed at which teenagers can disseminate information via texting, the Internet and just plain ol whispering behind someones back.

Whats Oh, So Wrong: Theres the potential to alienate fans of the books since there are huge departures with the characters, making some of them reformed or noble, thus lending a morality to a product originally unrepentant about its depiction of elitist decadence.

Recommended If ...: You miss The O.C. and think the spirit of Marisa should live on.
