Zap2it Fall TV Preview 2008: FOX's New Shows

Zap2it Fall TV Preview 2008: FOX's New Shows: Do Not Disturb (FOX)
Comedy

Premieres: Wednesday, Sept. 10
Airs: Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET

The Pitch: Upstairs/Downstairs at a Manhattan hotel, hold the laughter.

Plenty of interesting guests come through Manhattans chic The Inn, but the people staying at the hotel arent nearly as interesting as the staff working there, including general manager Neal (Jerry OConnell), human resources head Rhonda (Niecy Nash), reservations clerk Nicole (Molly Stanton) and housekeeping head Larry (Jesse Tyler Ferguson).

What They Got Right: Many of the people involved in Do Not Disturb are capable of being funny, particularly Nash, Ferguson and even occasionally OConnell...

Whats Oh, So Wrong: ... But none of them are funny in the rough pilot that FOX sent critics before press tour. Every punchline plays on broad stereotypes or caricature and even the studio audience doesnt seem to be amused. To be fair, much of the pilot was reshot, so the hilarity may possibly ensue.

Recommended If ...: You find Til Death too subtle and prefer even more obvious targets for your sitcom-y punchlines.
