Premise: A rebellious female defense attorney, in a strained marriage to a law professor, is willing to do whatever it takes to protect the wrongfully accused.

First Impressions: Julianna Margulies' tough and resourceful defense lawyer could be one of the season's breakout characters -- provided she gets a chance. The show will be saddled with the brutal 9 p.m. Thursday timeslot, opposite "Grey's Anatomy" and "CSI," come spring.
