'Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway'
The ongoing deification of this omnisexual Aussie charmer might be a bit much for some, but few Broadway solo shows have ever showcased a showman more completely at ease with his fanatical audience. Unlike most in his generation, the impossibly handsome Hugh Jackman has both stellar chops in musical theater and an unassailably macho presence cemented by a Wolverine. This has given him a unique brand and incomparable confidence, both of which are amply on display in his money-spinning song-and-dance show. Jackman's relaxed, shape-shifting Australian identity -- he's neither an effete Englishman nor an uncouth American -- is key to his appeal, and he works it all night long, for anybody with the price of admission.
