Norway residents were stunned when, on July 22, a bomb went off in Oslo, killing eight and injuring several more. A few hours later in nearby Utoya, a gunman opened fire on attendees at a camp for the youth division of the ruling Labour Party. The man, Anders Behring Breivik, 32, was brought in by police. Breivik said he acted alone and has been said to be a right-wing extremist.
