The plot: The oldest plot in the playbook: politician cheats on wife and apologizes to Dan Rather and the world on national television. While campaigning for president, the "Boy Governor" of Arkansas was accused of an extra-marital affair with Gennifer Flowers. The governor's wife stood by her man as the two addressed the charges on air.
