In 2009, rapper Kanye West appeared to commit career suicide by rushing the stage and taking the mic from Taylor Swift when she won Best Female Video at the Video Music Awards. What a difference a year makes. In 2010, Kayne won a rapturous following for his over-the-top tweets, released a song per week as part of his G.O.O.D. Friday program, returned to the VMAs to perform the song "Runaway" (which seems to address last year's awards debacle), released a 35-minute short film about the love affair between and man and a phoenix, and came out with "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," an album that made it to the top of countless critics' best-of-2010 list.
