`Innocence of Muslims'
"Innocence of Muslims" is an anti-Islamic film reportedly written and produced by Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a California resident. A YouTube video showing an excerpt of the video was broadcast on an Egyptian Islamist television station on Sept. 9. On Sept. 11, demonstrations and violent protests against the film broke out in Egypt and spread to other Arab and Muslim nations. Throughout the course of the protests, hundreds were injured and over 75 were killed. According to the actors involved in the film's production, the movie's original working title was 'Desert Warrior' and was not religiously motivated; the anti-Islamic content was added in post production by overdubbing, reportedly without the actors' knowledge. Nakoula was arrested on Sept. 27 and was sentenced to one year in prison and four years of supervised release.
