'Argo,' 'Jaws,' 'The Terminal,' and more movies you won't believe were based on true stories

The tagline for this flick is "Inspired by the true story of the most prolific serial killer in history" -- which is ridiculously misleading, and really unnecessary. It's about a gigantic man-eating crocodile in Burundi named Gustave -- and yes, there really is a 1-ton, 20-foot-long Nile crocodile that is rumored to have killed more than 300 people. Why didn't the producers think "1-ton, 20-foot-long killer croc who has possibly eaten 300 people" wasn't enough of a selling point? Perhaps they were afraid of competing with such SyFy Channel epics as "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus."
