'The Amazing Spider-Man'
The powers: Web-slinging
The actor: Nicholas Hammond
The run: 1977-1979
The villains: Thieves, terrorists, spies, the occasional clone
The tone:"Oh, God, we don't want people to think this is a superhero show!"
Of note: CBS execs made a conscious decision not to have supervillians on the show because they didn't want to be knows as "the superhero network." (They also aired "The Incredible Hulk" and "Wonder Woman.") Stan Lee hated the show and called it "too juvenile" -- even though he was credited as a script consultant. Oh, and Spidey also showed up on "The Electric Company," which was awesome.
