Super Bowl XXXIX Halftime Show

Super Bowl XXXIX -- 2005

The player: Paul McCartney (a Beatle needs no team)

The playbook: A Beatle, singing Beatles songs. Anyone got a problem with that? One year after the dreaded "wardrobe malfunction" of 2004, the NFL turned to Macca to restore some common decency to the proceedings. Such songs as "Drive My Car," "Get Back" and "Hey Jude" were performed. America's faith in the NFL to provide family-friendly entertainment would be restored. Beep-beep-m-beep-beep-yeah!

The result: field goal. Can't argue with a Beatle, after all, but the whole thing lacked a little oomph -- and no, fireworks don't count as "oomph."
