By all accounts, filming on "The Misfits" was miserable. The heat at the set was unbearable, star Marilyn Monroe was sinking deep into alcohol and drug addiction, and it was all driving leading man Clark Gable around the bend. He died of a heart attack less than two weeks after the end of filming, and his wife says the film contributed to his death: "It wasn't the physical exertion that killed him. It was the horrible tension, the eternal waiting, waiting, waiting. He waited around forever, for everybody."
