'The Vampire Diaries' Death Toll: Characters we've loved and lost

We loved him because: He led the angry tomb vamps in an uprising against Pearl and the other Mystic Falls sympathizers, but mostly we loved him because his death proved how awesome Elena can be.

We lost him because: He tortured and weakened Stefan, and then attacked Elena in the woods. In general, attacking Elena is a bad plan if you want to live. She staked him, then fed her blood to Stefan. With renewed strength, Stefan turned on Frederick, and staked the crap out of him. Seriously. It was brutal.
