'The Vampire Diaries' Death Toll: Characters we've loved and lost

We loved him because: Harper was one of the tomb vampires who seemed to really hate killing people. He was fiercely loyal to Pearl, who saved his life by turning him during the Civil War. He even stood up for Stefan when Frederick and the other vampire goons kidnapped Stefan.

We lost him because: John Gilbert shot Harper with a stake crossbow when he killed Pearl. (John wasn't really the type to have a heart-to-heart about intentions before killing people.)
